Welcome to the world of Oni Bushi!

The story takes place on the Island of Tsukigen (tsuu-key-gehn). It's a place that is very much inspired by Japan (but it is NOT Japan). Does the shape of the main island look like anything to you?
​
There are other lands in the world; two such places that are mentioned in the story are Skövalgar and Khepria (which are also based off of real places/cultures...I wonder if you can guess which ones?).
Characters
Below is the wonderful character art done by Din Animation Studios.

Note: we did our best NOT to include any spoilers in these character descriptions (which is why they are very basic), since the book has yet to launch.
Meet: Kazuki and Hasunuma!
​
These are two of the three main characters in Oni Bushi.
​
Kazuki (kah-zuu-key) is a young man (16 years old, during the main story) who is trying to figure out his place in the world.
​
Quick description: black hair, hazel eyes, and natural (light brown) skin; 5’9” tall with a lean build; Samurai-type (quiet; wields a katana).
​
Hasunuma (hah-suu-new-mah) is a 28-year-old, charismatic pirate who takes Kazuki under his wing. His goal is to destroy the Hekigun army, as well as their leader, Hiiro Genji.
​
Quick description: dark brown hair, green eyes, and natural (light brown) skin; 6’2” tall with a medium muscular build. Pirate (very suave and intelligent; wields a one-of-a-kind ‘Red Dragon’ sword).
Meet: Kohaku and Reika!
​
Kohaku is the third main character in Oni Bushi.
​
Kohaku (ko-hah-kuu) is a 25-year-old ninja woman, who is compassionate to her friends and deadly to her enemies. She has known Hasunuma since they were young teens, and is the only female pirate amongst his crew.
​
Quick description: short, choppy, dark red hair, emerald green eyes, and golden (medium brown) skin; 5’8” tall with generous curves; Ninja (specialties are stealth and first aid; wields a kusarigama).
​
Reika (ray-kah) is a 16-year-old shrine maiden ("Miko"). She encounters the pirate crew at Tenrou Shrine.
​
Quick description: golden hair, green eyes, and beige (light pink) skin; 5’3” tall and has a small frame; Miko (specialty is casting spells, but she doesn’t really fight).
Meet: Hanzo and Ginza!
​
Hanzo (hahn-zoh) is a 32-year old pirate, who is originally from a place called Skövalgar.
​
Quick description: red hair (braided) with a bushy beard, blue eyes, and warm ivory (pale pink) skin; 6’5” tall and very muscular; Warrior-type (giant-like; specialty is strength; wields hand weapons that look like mini brass knuckles with blades).
​
Ginza (gin-zah) is a 32-year old pirate, who used to be a blacksmith (though he still forges and maintains weapons for some of his pirate comrades).
​
Quick description: black hair with a beard, brown eyes, and golden (medium brown) skin; 5’11” tall and very muscular (but more heavyset than Hanzo). Warrior-type (specialty is strength; wields a super heavy bladed weapon – like an oversized naginata).
Meet: Jun and Rize!
​
Jun is a 24-year old pirate, who is more interested in cooking than killing (not that he wouldn't, he just doesn't care about other people's agendas).
​
Quick description: shoulder-length black hair tied messily back, hazel eyes, and honey (medium brown) skin; 6’ tall with a lean build; Samurai-type (his father was a master swordsman; specialty is cooking; wields a katana or any chef knives).
​
Rize (ree-zay) is a 22-year old pirate, who is the helmsman of Hasunuma's ship. He is also an expert hunter and has a peregrine falcon companion, named "Ami" (ah-mee).
​
Quick description: Has black hair pulled back in pony tail (with some loose strands hanging around his face), brown eyes, and natural (light brown) skin; 6’ tall with a medium muscular build; Hunter (intelligent; specialty is stealth; wields a bow).
Meet: Douglas and Nia!
​
Douglas (dug-lass) is a 27-year old warrior from Khepria. He is in Tsukigen with his wife, Nia, for various reasons...
​
Quick description: has a swirl of short braids just on the top of his head (with golden beads strung into them) that end in a short knot bound by a golden cuff, brown eyes, and very dark espresso (dark brown) skin; 6’4” tall with an extremely muscular build; Warrior (foreign; specialties are strength and battle prowess; wields a trident).
​
Nia (nee-ah) is a 24-year-old merchant and assassin from Khepria. She and her husband, Douglas, are in Tsukigen for various reasons...
​
Quick description: has straight, long black hair in braid (starts with a matching golden cuff like Douglas’), amber eyes (though always closed), and espresso (dark brown) skin; 5’8” tall and is thin (very delicate looking), but with decent curves; Assassin (foreign; specialty is speed; wields poison needles).
Meet: Ammon and Second

These are two of the main antagonists in the story.
​
Ammon (ah-mohn) is a terrifying, monster-of-a-man, who loves blood; 5'10" tall; wields a pair of kama.
​
Second has a youthful appearance and is aiming for the top spot; 6' tall; wields a katana.
